You are all snowflakes

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 13, 2012, 2:02 PM

Do you ever stop and think about how lucky you are to have a talent or a skill?

Most people join deviantart because they have some sort of artistic skill to share with the world, and find other people with similar interests and skills. Same thing happens when you go to college for your specific trade. Everyone you meet there does the same thing you do.  Spending a number of years in college and on websites devart and tumblr can leave the impression that all of your peers are just like you.  You make a lot of friends with the same talent.  I'm a digital artist and know many others~

insert type of artwork you do this is relevant
We are digital artists!
We paint images from our brains and capture moments of life!
We spend more time with Photoshop than with our families!
We live in a mansion and drive a Bugatti
This is what we do!
but when everyone you talk to at school/at work/on the internet does it too, its no longer rare.
And the more time you spend in the art world, the more you find you are socializing with artists just like you all the time.

Aren't i special?
a unique snowflake?
Am I not a rare pokemon?

No dude, you're just like everyone else
no dude
<Story Tiem>
So I was at work this one time and someone came in to ask for a graphic of i can't remember what..
and they began to draw on a piece of paper on my desk, and it was sub-stick figure level
and they apologized for not being able to do any better
and i thought to myself
Why would you apologize, not everyone can draw..
..wait a minute..
not everyone can draw!

And i think thats important to remember!
We all have shitty art days, shitty art weeks, months of art blocks, and times when you lose all your powers
times when it looks so bad its like you stuck your stylus pen up your ass and squatted over your wacom and saved the .jpg

Happens to everyone.
we've all been browsing the internets and came across a work so amazing it slaps your artistic self-worth in the face with a shoe and you swear not to leave your room until you get half as good as that!

but what also happens to everyone, is you make great work that only you can do
because you actually have a talent and a skill that not everyone has!
even more, you have a style that NOBODY else has!
that is yours, and yours alone.
That gets you into a very small club
The Intergalactic Kick-Ass Artist Club for Artists
And we are all lucky to be members~

Be proud of your work
no matter your skill level, we are never finished evolving
never finished learning
and never finished getting better
We never reach a point where we are "done"
as they say, it's the journey, not the destination.

Stay frosty, ladies and gents
~ Mikey

got up in the middle of the night because i remembered this journal. I didn't really need the build up but it still moved me, like when i first read this journal.
I really wish there was a book with most of your journal entries in it. Then I would worry less that I might forget anything you've written.

Made me feel better but honestly, I think i hit a dead stop. Style wont seem to evolve or adjust from the clanky crappy thing it is now, so I just try to work around the little hangovers I have. Though I cant hide my hands and toes forever and my character eyes and overly large heads irk me to no end.

But hey, the advice is sound, not exactly new per say but very found. Love reading your journals cuz I always end up on my side clapping like a retarded seal. Make Mine Vash. :iconmingplz:
