First Commission for the 2009 batch I Loved drawing this, I've always been an AKIRA fan, and have always been fascinated by space, and the universe, and the potential for human growth..
Which is why i love Tetsuo's final line in AKIRA "I AM TETSUO" announcing his arrival to the cosmos always gives me chills..
Title is from the last chapter subtitle of 2001 Space Oddysey "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite" I suppose Dave Bowman's Journey is somewhat similar to Tetsuo's here. Coming in contact with some supreme power, and being taken to the ends of space and time.. and the limitless possibilites therein... fascinating
What if the end of space and time is just a joke, like the creator had a sick sense of humor and made like a souvenir stand waiting in some white void.
Or some sort of small earth, like really small, King Kai planet size.
Akira was my first j-anime experience EVER, and I was 13...not a very pleasant memory. The movie, even now, scares me. Your picture, even though you gave a description, gave me chills, and makes me think of crazyness and blood and power spiralling out of control. =/ Don't mistake me! It's an amazing picture! But somehow, I always interpreted Tetsuo's last line as a kind of "remember me" thing. Like, "I am Tetsuo...don't forget what happened here when power is allowed to run untamed" kinda deal. I guess it makes no sense, huh?
Anyway, awesome stuff! His eyes are unsettling, and somehow don't match with his face... I'm sorry, I sound like I'm cutting down your picture, and that's not my intention!! You sound so proud of it, and you should be because it's amazing! I could never do something like this. It's just the feeling that I get when I look at it. Regardless, the picture speaks loudly, and not many pictures do that anymore, which is great. And even though the darkness of the colors kind of hides it, the detail in the mechanical knicknacks around his arm is absolute winnage.
